Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex MD5 Checksums
Well Ubuntu 8.10 has finally been released! I have been tinkering with prereleases for the past couple of weeks but now I am looking forward to trying out the release version on a machine! Once again however canonical have been a bit cryptic about providing good links to their iso MD5 hashes (or checksums), so as before, here are the MD5s for Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Edubuntu, ubuntustudio, Mythbuntu, and Xubunutu 8.10:

Cheers, been looking for these. 🙂
Thanks!! simple but effective!
Funny that Google led me to you before Canonical’s site. Ah, well, thanks for having my back!
Thanks for the number, but I had to search all over the net to find out how to use it on a ubuntu computer. For others who might find this page and want to know:
1. Open a terminal window and navigate to the folder where you have the iso file saved.
2. Type this and hit “enter”: md5sum ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso
(of course, substitute the name of the file you are checking where I have put ubuntu-8.10-desktop-i386.iso)
That’s it – the checksum will come up in a minute – I like to copy it into my text editor with the other one right under it. You can then see if it is exactly the same.
Cheers,
Kath
Thanks for the hashes! OS X users can use
$ md5 ubuntu-8.10-server-i386.iso
to get the MD5 hash of a local file.
Best,
Bojan
Hey thanks very much for posting these – I just d/led 8.10 so I can upgrade 8.04 so I can later upgrade to 9.04. 🙂
This was the first hit on google and matched what I had.
Thanks,
Tim
