ABOUT ME

I have just started a full time job as a software developer after completing a BSci degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London. Unfortunately as a concomitent of this, my free time is spread a bit thinly at the moment, but I always (try to) monitor what is going on in the tech and gaming worlds. I aim to blog when I can or when something particularly inspires me.

Blogging for me started way back in 2005 when I wrote a small number of short articles on my old site. I wasn’t convinced I would get much of an audience, and until late 2007 I abandoned the idea. Around august that year I suddenly was presented with a lot of free time and I found myself compelled to write (or type). This quickly progressed and I soon out-grew my self hosted website and decided to move onto WordPress so I could focus more on writing than web design and maintenance.

That was not the first website I have owned or worked on, some of you may be familiar with the (previously) community driven modification to half life called Day of Defeat. I used to run a waypointing and fan site back in 2002 to 2004, although looking back it was fairly primitive by comparison but a lot of fun none the less.

Fast forward to today, my blogging mainly focuses on the gaming, technology (in general) as well as F/OSS (free / open source software), *unix (i.e. Linux), security and programming. Although, as anyone who knows me in ‘real life’ can attest to, I tend to be a bit random at times and the tangential nature of some of my posts reflects this.

I am also into amateur photography so you may see the occasional picture post and when I get the time I like to go nuts and do a bit of airsofting. As you may or may not have already noticed, I tend to over-use smiles – sorry. :)

GUEST POSTS

I am open to the idea of having others making guest posts either on my blog, or me on theirs. The only restriction is that I carefully screen what goes on my blog and I have no interest in sponsored posts or sponsored reviews. I made a decision early on that I would not monetize any of my blogs nor accept financial contributions in exchange for favorable posts / reviews.

LINK(s) and BLOG EXCHANGES

I do not enter into link exchanges with other blogs / sites either on a paid or SEO basis. I do however enjoy finding new blogs with useful and exciting content and as a result I do sometimes add permanent external links.

ERRATA & STORIES

If there are any errors in any of my posts please feel free to correct me! Similarly, if you have any information etc that I would be interested, do not hesitate to contact me.

COMMENTS

I welcome any and all comments on my posts – if you have something to contribute or have run into difficulties or simply want to confirm something works I would love to hear from you. The only times I will delete comments will be if I judge them to be SEO motivated or meaningless spam.

IMPLIED (or inferred) MERCHANTABILITY or RECOMMENDATIONS

Although I review products and services and write how-tos, I in no way take responsibility for their implementation or any physical (hardware etc) or nonphysical (data etc) or do I suggest merchantability for any specific purpose. Also, I am not responsible (or accountable) for any content I link to, on leaving my blog the responsibility for the content is down to the domain (or sub domain) registrar.

Basically I write for fun and in order to help people – I don’t want to be sued as a result. :)

Thanks for visiting! :)
